Jeffrey James Fortunato Esq., died April 29, 2025, after a courageous battle with heart failure. Jeffrey was born in Glen Cove, New York on January 06, 1959, to the late Vincent and Jenny Fortunato. Jeffrey grew up in Chestnut Ridge New York and is survived by his wife of 35 years, Elizabeth, sister Jennifer Sernotti, son Joseph, and daughter Kathleen.
Jeffrey graduated from Boston University Law School in 1985, and started his legal career with Krashes, Ross, Gess and Brown and was a part-time attorney for the Village of Wesley Hills. In 1996 he began serving the county of Rockland, climbing to the role of County Attorney under Scott Vanderhoef, and retiring as assistant County Attorney under Ed Day.
Jeffrey loved nothing more than spending time with family. His love for music is instilled in both children, as well as a love of fishing and all wildlife.
Visitation will be 1:00PM – 3:00 PM, Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Baldwin Brothers Funeral and Cremation Services, 290 Nicholas Pkwy NW Unit # 19, Cape Coral Florida 33991, Mass of Christian Burial, 9:00 AM, Friday, May 16, 2025, Our Lady Queen of Angels, 375 Prospect Avenue, Fort Myers, Florida 33905 followed by entombment at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery, 9400 Indian Springs Cemetery Road, Punta Gorda, Florida 33950.
In lieu of flowers, the family is honoring Jeff's legacy by supporting Make A Difference Fishing. Org., c/o Flagship Bank, 3320 East Bay Drive, Largo, FL 33771.
Make a Difference Fishing is a Charity that works with disabled children and adults to learn and experience fishing.
