Jeffrey Getz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Auble Funeral Home - Orrville on Dec. 19, 2025.
Jeffrey Paul Getz, age 67, of Orrville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Ohio's Hospice LifeCare in Wooster, after a courageous battle with ALS.
Jeff was born on May 20, 1958, in Barberton, Ohio, to Harold and Ruth (Paul) Getz. He graduated from Barberton High School in 1976 and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree from the University of Akron in 1986. On Sept 13, 1980 he married the love of his life, Abbie Gale Rowe, in Barberton. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, family, and cherished memories.
For 33 years, Jeff served as the President and Electrical Engineer of ACD, Inc. in Orrville, where his leadership and expertise left a lasting impact. He retired on June 30, 2024, closing a chapter of professional success and beginning a well-deserved time of rest and family.
A man of deep faith, Jeff was a devoted member of Orrville Christian Church. He found great joy in running his business, but his greatest passion was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, hiking the National Parks with his wife, evening fires with close friends, and going on walks with his sidekick Plato. Jeff's warmth, intelligence, and generous spirit touched all who knew him, and his legacy will live on through the many lives he impacted.
Jeff will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 45 years, Abbie; his three children, Marshal Getz of California, Elizabeth (Grant) Smucker of Columbus, and Emily Getz of New York; and his seven treasured grandchildren, Liam, Camilla, Marlowe, and Remy Smucker, and Wyatt, Wesley, and Riley Getz. He also leaves behind his siblings, Patty (Pat) Gnap of Barberton, Janice Kallie of Barberton, Daniel (Karen) Getz of Portage Lakes, and Tina Hornecek of Copley, as well as many extended family members, friends, and colleagues who were fortunate to know him.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ruth, and his brother, Joe Getz.
Family and friends are invited to gather on December 27, 2025, at Orrville Christian Church, 925 North Elm Street, Orrville, from 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm to pay their respects. A memorial service celebrating Jeff's life will follow at 3:00 pm, with Pastor Garry Menke officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association, 1300 Wilson Blvd, Suite 600, Arlington, VA 22209, www.als.org in honor of Jeff's courageous fight against the disease, or to Ohio's Hospice LifeCare 1900 Akron Road, Wooster, OH 44691, www.ohioshospice.org
Jeff's strength, kindness, and love for his family will never be forgotten. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, faith, and unwavering devotion to those he held dear.

Jeff was that rare person who took interest and asked questions. He sought to understand before speaking a rare gem. I so very much appreciated Jeff for this quality and spirit.

Prayers offered up for the wonderful memories and the loving arms of our God to hold the family up during this time.
