Jeffrey (Jeff) Hardcastle, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on October 5, 2025, after a long and hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 70 years old. Jeff is survived by his wife, Cindy Hardcastle; his daughter, Melissa Traber (Charles); his son, John Hardcastle; his cherished granddaughters, Aubrey and Haylie Traber; and his mother, Mary Hardcastle. Additionally, he is survived by many other members of his close knit family.
Jeff worked as a press operator at RR Donnelley (formerly Moore Business Forms) for 47 years before retiring. He was also a former fire chief for Richland Township Fire and Rescue, known as Shelly Fire Company during the time he served.
Jeff was always helping others. Known as the neighborhood handyman, Jeff was ready and willing to lend a hand to a neighbor who needed help fixing things around the house. He was self taught in many trades such as electrical work, plumbing, and much more. If he didn’t know how to fix it, he would figure it out! Jeff also enjoyed spending time taking care of his yard by using his lawn tractor. Vehicle maintenance was a passion, as he could frequently be found washing family vehicles and caring for them inside and out, including giving them a shiny exterior with a good vehicle wax. Always a history buff, Jeff enjoyed talking about historical events and watching television shows about various points of history. His love of history and vehicles combined in his interest in historic vehicles and watching tv shows about their restoration. Jeff was a fan of NASCAR, the Phillies, the Eagles, and Penn State Football, all of which he enjoyed watching with his son.
