NEWTON, NH – Jeffrey D. Helle, 33, died peacefully on May 12, 2025, surrounded by family, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston after a courageous year-long battle with cancer, Neuroendocrine Tumors (NETs).
Jeff was born on December 9, 1991, in Worcester to Jay R. and Kristine C. (Beach) Helle. He grew up in Rutland, MA and graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in 2010. Early in his life, Jeff had a love for dirt bikes and cars, a passion that grew to include motorcycles during his teenage years and adulthood. He spent a few seasons racing his motorcycle at NH Motor Speedway in Loudon, NH. He could often be found working on his bikes and cars in the garage. He started playing football at seven years old for Wachusett Pop Warner and remained a football fan for life.
After high school, Jeff attended UMass Lowell, graduating in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in engineering. It was there, he met his future wife and many life-long friends. He has worked for the past eight years at CBI/Terex in Newton, NH, designing heavy machinery. He was passionate about his work, but even more connected to the team of people he worked with that quickly became life-long friends. He enjoyed golfing with them, going to lunch on Fridays, decorating their cubicles for Christmas, and countless other memories.
On March 13, 2021, Jeff married the love of his life, Kaela McLaughlin, in Bedford, NH. Together they grew their family to include two dogs and two children. He was a devoted husband and father that could be found most nights having a “dance party” with his family. He was known to fire up his Blackstone and grill countless brunches with his famous pancakes, rain or shine. Jeff loved Thanksgiving. He and his wife would host their extended family for the holiday, where he would be found in the kitchen bright and early that morning, preparing the turkey, listening to “Alice’s Restaurant” by Arlo Guthrie. He was also known to wear a full Grinch costume to greet his extended family members on Christmas Eve with a freshly made “Grinch Mimosa.”
His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. Jeff was an incredibly strong man, but more than that he was a kind, smart, and fun-loving soul. He never hesitated to lend a hand to someone in need. Please remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is predeceased by his grandparents: Daniel Helle of Rutland, MA and David and Ella Beach of Paxton, MA. Jeff is survived by his wife, Kaela Helle of Newton, NH; his daughter, Tessa Helle, and son, Cooper Helle of Newton, NH; his parents, Jay and Kristine Helle of Rutland, MA; his Grandmother and friend, Beverly A Helle of Rutland; his sister, Emma Helle of Hackensack, NJ; his in-laws, the McLaughlin family of Merrimac, MA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, MA, with a memorial service to follow at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place following the service at Rural Cemetery, 140 Main Street, Rutland, MA.
