Jeffrey Peter Kovacs

On October 1, 2025, of Washington Twp. Age 67. Beloved husband of Karen (nee Donato). Devoted father of Nicole Kovacs (Linsey), and Jonathan Kovacs (Hasret). Cherished son of Carol (nee Salerno) and the late Joseph Kovacs. Dear brother of Kerry Kovacs (Liz) and Kathy Geary (Nick).

Dr. Jeffrey Kovacs was born on November 30, 1957, in Mt. Holly, NJ to parents Carol and Joseph. He was the youngest of three, alongside his brother Kerry and his sister Kathy. Jeffrey's father was in the military, so they lived all around the world including places like Japan and Spain.

Jeffrey loved soccer and became an amazing player. He went on to play soccer in college but was faced with the difficult decision of pursing his studies in hopes of fulfilling his dream of becoming a doctor or dedicating all of his time to sports. He chose school.

Jeffrey graduated from Rutgers University and then went on to pursue medical school at University of New England in Biddeford, Maine. During this time, he was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Navy. Following medical school, he completed his orthopedic residency program at UMDNJ where he met the love of his life, his wife Karen. After completion of his residency, Dr. Kovacs was stationed at the Naval Hospital in Camp LeJeune, NC where he and his wife welcomed their first born, Nicole, in 1992.

After completing his time in the Navy, he and his family returned to New Jersey, where, in 1994, they welcomed their second child, Jonathan. From then on, Dr. Kovacs remained in New Jersey and worked as an orthopedic surgeon. He was very well respected by his colleges. During his time as an orthopedic surgeon, he was awarded "Attending of the Year", multiple years in a row. He enjoyed operating and teaching his residents more than anything; however, this didn't come close to how much he enjoyed spending time with his kids and wife.

Jeffrey fell in love with soccer again, when he had the opportunity to coach both of his kids. Despite working a very demanding job, he was at almost every sporting event, concert, or recital.

Jeffrey passed peacefully on October 1, surrounded by family. He will be missed by all that loved him, his family, his friends, and his cats.

Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing Tuesday 9:00 – 11:00 am at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Funeral Service 11:00 am. Interment Crescent Memorial Park, Pennsauken.

In honor of Jeffrey's life, in lieu of flowers or other acts of sympathy, his family would encourage any donations to American Association for the study of Liver Diseases AASLD.

I worked with Dr. Kovacs in Washington Twp. That man always had a smile on his face and treated people the right way. I´ll always have fond memories of working him on Fridays.

Dr. Kovacs was more than just our attending - he was a mentor, teacher, and friend. We were incredibly fortunate to train under him. His love for orthopedics and his dedication to teaching left a deep and lasting impression on each of us. He led by example every day, showing us not only how to be better surgeons, but how to be better people.

We´ll always remember his calm presence in the OR, his patience when we stumbled, and his unique way of making even the toughest days a little lighter. He pushed us to grow, supported us through challenges, and celebrated our successes as if they were his own.

Dr. Kovacs´ influence on our lives and careers is immeasurable. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught us and the countless moments we shared.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family. We´re grateful to have known him, and we´ll carry his memory with us always.
