CANASTOTA...
Jeffrey A. Mitchell, 65, of Canastota, passed away after a long battle with Frontal Temporal Dementia, on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Upstate Community Hospital in Syracuse, NY.
He was born on July 21, 1959, in Oneida, NY, a son of John R. and Nellie B. (Richmond) Mitchell.
Jeff was born in Oneida, but his childhood was spent in Victoria, VA. The family relocated back to Canastota in 1974. In 1977, Jeff graduated from Canastota High School. He later graduated from Morrisville College with an associate degree in Plastics Engineering.
In 1978, he wed Nancy Burke at St. Agatha's Church in Canastota.
First and foremost, Jeff was a hard worker. He spent countless hours launching his own plastics manufacturing business, Miniature Molded Products, Inc. His employees, family, and friends respected his spirit, motivation, and drive to be successful. He later moved to Virginia to work for Tessy Plastics and finished his career in Oneida in the plastics industry.
Jeff was an impressive golfer, known for his long drives, and loved to be frustrated by the game. An avid car and Harley Davidson enthusiast, he spent time improving his cars and motorcycles. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and all pets, including his beloved dog, Annabelle. He was an exceptionally caring man with a big heart, who would do anything for anyone.
Surviving are: two daughters and sons-in-law: Erin and Robert Belvick of Syracuse, and Carrie and Brenden Kirkpatrick of LaFayette; three grandchildren, Jonathan J. Belvick, Benjamin K. and Francesca C. Kirkpatrick; his parents, John and Nellie Mitchell of Canastota; his brother, Timothy J. Mitchell of Canastota. He is also survived by his former wife and friend, Nancy Mitchell of Canastota; his mother-in-law, Frances Burke of Canastota; his uncle and aunt, Otto and Diane Mitchell of Oneida; several cousins; and other in-laws.
A celebration of Jeff's life will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. at The Craftsman Inn, 7300 E. Genesee Street, Fayetteville, NY. Interment will be in the Stockbridge Cemetery at the family's convenience. Arrangements are under the care of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wanderers' Rest Humane Association, Inc, PO Box 535, Canastota, NY 13032.
