Jeffrey Mitchell

Jeffrey Mitchell, age 69, of Wellington and formerly of Avon, Ohio passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025 surrounded by the love of his family. He was born November 24, 1956 in Fairview, Ohio to parents Edward R. and Rita (nee Kowalski) Mitchell.

Jeff grew up in Avon Lake and was a 1975 graduate of Avon Lake High School. He attended and played football at Bowling Green State University for one year, then moved back to marry his high school sweetheart Debra Loeser on July 9, 1976. Following their wedding, Jeff and Debi settled in Avon where they started raising a family and Jeff began his life-long career in HVAC. In 1982, after learning skills from great mentors and bosses, he started his own company which remained family owned under various names until his retirement. Jeff became an expert in the HVAC industry, mentoring many along the way, and helping several friends and colleagues sort out a difficult situation.

Jeff was an avid fisherman, dropping his line into any body of water he could find, but especially Lake Erie and Western Michigan. He enjoyed coaching his children in soccer and football, and spending time outdoors, especially camping and hiking with his family. Jeff enjoyed doing DIY projects, and watching sports, especially football, and he never met an animal he didn't like as proven by the number of animals Debi and he rescued over the years. But mostly, Jeff was humble and kind, always quick with a sarcastic joke, even if it was ill-timed, and was a devoted and loving husband, dad, poppa, and friend.

Jeff is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years Debra L. Mitchell; loving children Zachary R. Mitchell (Laura), Kristina M. Wimmer, and Lindsay A. Mitchell; cherished grandchildren Madison, Seth, Fynnley, Austin, Ava, and Ryder; dear siblings Dale Mitchell (Linda), Terry Mitchell (Kathy), and Larry Mitchell (Barb); and sister-in-law Dorothea Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Edward Mitchell; and infant sisters Linda Mitchell and Suzanne Mitchell.
