Susan Darlene Romond

Susan D. Romond (nee Guthrie) passed away surrounded by love and family, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and a deep devotion to family and friends.

A proud graduate of St. Joseph's school and Avon Lake High School, Susan achieved a long and dedicated career with U.S. Steel in Lorain, where she spent more than 30 years.

Susan was an avid reader, finding great joy in books throughout her life. She was a deeply proud and enthusiastic grandmother, cherishing every moment spent with her grandchildren, Grace and Connor, who brought her endless happiness and pride.

A devout catholic, her faith, family and friends were the center of Susan's world. A proud Aunt to many nieces and nephews, gatherings with family were her greatest joy, and she was happiest when everyone was together.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Edvidge Guthrie, niece Alexis and great-nephew Michael. She is survived by her daughter, Leah Gibbons (Sean), her beloved grandchildren, Grace and Connor, as well as her four siblings Diane Goins (Chuck), Larry Guthrie (Jeanette), Kevin Guthrie (the late Bonnie Guthrie) and Lisa Ockajik (Jacques).

Susan will be remembered for her warmth, compassion, and willingness to always lend a helping hand. Always thinking of others, her life was defined not by grand gestures, but by the countless small acts of kindness she exhibited every day.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

All services will be held on Monday January ,19, 2026 at Joseph's Catholic Church, 32929 Lake Road, Avon Lake, OH 44012, The family will receive visitors from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m.
