Robert Elwood Romond

Robert E. Romond, Sr., age 87, of Runnemede, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 18, 2023.
Beloved husband of the late Anna Rita (nee DeValerio). Devoted father of Robert Jr. (Donna), Patricia Stelmach (James), Mark (Linda), and Catherine Boyle (Joseph). Loving Grandfather of Nicole, Lisa, Holly, James, Brittany, Kelsey, and Joseph. Great Grandfather of Ava, Jason, Mason, Madison, Cade, Cason, and Cooper. Dear brother of Theresa Donovan, Jean Smith (John), and the late Louis Romond, Margaret Evan, Joseph Romond and Vedice Romond. Numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members also survive him.
Robert was an Army Veteran. He worked at Automated Retailers of America (ARA) in Pennsauken for over 25 years and was a member of numerous bowling leagues at Camden Lanes for more than 10 years. A model train fanatic, his year-round Christmas train platforms showcased his love, skill, and creativity. He enjoyed taking day trips to the local casinos in Atlantic City, Chester, and Philadelphia to play the slots, completing his daily crossword puzzles, reading books by his favorite author Tom Clancy, and watching the Philadelphia Phillies, regardless of their record.
But more than anything else, Robert's greatest love was for his wife Anna and the family they built. Married for 45 years, 16 of those were spent creating everlasting memories with their children and grandchildren in the sunshine of the Jersey Shore at their campgrounds at Blue Dolphin and Beachcomber in Wildwood. Tuesday night BINGO, frequent trips to Donuts Galore, Sunday morning breakfasts at the Greasy Spoon, and 'Poppy making his escarole soup in the dead of Summer' are just some of the fondest memories he has shared with loved ones.
After Anna's passing in 2001, Robert spent each week with his sister Jean and best friend and brother-in-law, John, at the house for 'Coffee Wednesdays'. Always surrounded by support, he found the greatest companionship in his four-legged friends, Cody, Mommom, and Nino.
There will be a Visitation on Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 9am to 11am at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE. Memorial Services will begin at 11am at the funeral home. Interment is private at the request of the family.
