The family will be present for visitation beginning at 11:00AM on Thursday, July 10 with a wake service beginning at 7:00PM that evening also at Eastman Hall in Flandreau, SD.
Jeffrey Robin, Ca te Peta was born on January 3, 1957 in Flandreau, SD, to Donna Rederth, and raised by Grandma and Grandpa Rederth.
He was a proud member of the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe and very proud of his native heritage and his advocacy work with AIM.
Robin attended FIS but was unable to complete due to his wild nature and finished his GED while incarcerated. Throughout his life he also attended college for automotive mechanics and Native American studies. Robin had skills in just about every handyman area.
In the mid 70's he met and married Imogene Williams in Cass Lake, MN gaining a daughter, Shannon and going on to have three more children, Cynthia, Jeremiah, and Robbie.
He worked in Cass Lake, MN at their casino as a cook and also worked in Minneapolis, MN where he was a courier. His travels eventually brought him back to Flandreau, SD where he worked for the FSST at the old casino as a cook and the housing maintenance department. In 1992 he welcomed daughter, Natalya and in 1995 also welcomed daughter, Larissa. He met the love of his life, Billie in 2000 and his travels brought him to San Gabriel, CA, where they were married on April 2, 2001 gaining children Paul, Ashley, James, and Angelica. During his time in CA, Robin worked at a loading dock and spent his free time chauffeuring children to and from school. Relocating the family to Flandreau, SD in April 2001, Robin worked as a construction worker before moving to work for the USDA Commodity Program. A lifelong passion was feeding people; so naturally his next job was Royal River Casino as kitchen manager. The opportunity to serve his people was a big draw for him and he took the jump to work for tribal maintenance where he was so proud to be helpful to his community and work alongside his brothers. He retired in 2017.
Robin's spirituality was a huge part of who he was fundamentally. The first to show up to keep fire, set up ceremony, help rebuild arbors for Sundances and set up camps. In 2001 he started his journey as a Sundancer in Sisseton, SD for one year and the following three years in Porcupine, SD. He was so proud that his daughters, Cynthia and Ashley also danced with him. He was never too busy to help share his knowledge and teachings or find someone who could. The AIM Sundance in Pipestone, MN has always held a special place in his heart as well.
In 2004 Robin and Billie founded Native Reptiles where they bred Burmese Pythons and Boa Constrictors. He proudly built all the custom cages that housed the snakes.
In 2006 they moved onto their own piece of land and started building their dream of owning a farm with horses. Robin loved working with the horses. This is where he cleared an entire area to have a sweat lodge at home. He would spend hours tending to the area and help anyone who needed it by setting up the lodge.
Robin loved his family with his whole heart. His wife, children, and especially his grandchildren have felt his love through his words and actions every single day. He made sure they never knew the meaning of the word "No", even if sometimes they should have.
Next to his love of his family came his extreme love for sports and especially the Minnesota Vikings. He was a die-hard fan until the very end. With his love of the Vikings comes his love for Pepsi, coffee, pranks, jump scares, and his world famous Commod Cheese Omelets; he would proudly make for his hunka daughter, Tarin.
He is survived by his wife Billie Rederth, Flandreau, SD, children, Shannon Williams, Cass Lake, MN, Cynthia Rederth, Flandreau, SD, Jeremiah (Leslie) Rederth, Sioux Falls, SD, Paul (Lisa) Martinez, Flandreau, SD, Ashley (Nick) Ross, Flandreau, SD, Natalya LaRoche, Pierre, SD, James (Dani) Contresceri, Flandreau, SD, Angelica (Tanner) Dibbern, Trent, SD, Larissa Rederth, Flandreau, SD.
