On November 21, 2024, Jeff passed away at age 57. His passing was sudden, unexpected, and left all who knew him in sorrow and shock.
Jeff was a graduate of the University of Illinois with a degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering. His passion for conceptual aircraft design led to a lengthy career in the aviation and avionics industry and moved him around the country. He found his home base in Savannah, Georgia where he had a robust love for the Southern culture and coastal history, volunteering at the Tybee Lighthouse and serving on the Tybee Island Historical Society Board. While in Savannah, Jeff cultivated relationships with, and grew very close to a broad and diverse group of friends. Sunset at "Cheers" gathered with friends, toasting to life and such was his regular happy routine.
Jeff was most proud and fond of his family that had grown over the years to include many "grand" nieces and nephews whom he adored. He loved being Uncle Jeff and relished going to "the lake," their golf tourneys, football games, plays, choruses, graduations, and holiday gatherings. He held dear his time with sister, Donna, and favorite (only) brother-in-law, Dave Ackerman, and with his brother Steve Alber and sister-in-law Nancy Alber. He was also close to his nephew Joel (Jill) Ackerman and niece Kate (Nick) Jones, and as aforementioned, the kids, Jackson, James, Johnny, and Jules Ackerman, and Lily, Houston, and Vivian Jones. His brother Steve's children Dawn Keyes and Sean Alber and grand nieces Kaity Keyes and Alexandra Callaway were also a light in his life.
Jeff is survived by his wife Vawn Smith Schroll.
Jeff's parents Dave and Metzell Schroll had already passed but they were never far from his heart. His brother Steve and sister-in-law Nancy also preceded Jeff in death.
Jeff left behind a legacy to work, love, laugh, dance, hug and play the fool, if you must, but to do it all with reckless abandon and joy. Then do it again tomorrow. So, in honor of his life, so should we.
In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice.
The family expects to hold a celebration of Jeff's life in Savannah at a later date.

First time I met Jeff was at a football and costume party at friends Ben and Tonia´s home many years ago.
I noticed he was cheering for my beloved Georgia Bulldogs and I liked him immediately!
Jeff had a wonderful sense of humor and always brought fun to those around him and always kept us laughing.
He will truly be missed and never forgotten.
RIP my friend.

I met Jeff about 13 years ago at Honda Aircraft Company. He was such a great guy, and I loved hanging out with him, going out for wings, watching live music, and solving the world's problems over a couple beers. He was always very professional at the office, but could totally cut loose and have fun afterwards.
One of my favorite memories with Jeff was when a group of us went out to Rodanthe to ring in the new years. We were all being goofy and having a great time, and Jeff thought it would be a good idea to head to the hot tub... still dressed in his tuxedo shirt and with a plate full of pasta! I'll miss you Jeff, truly the most interesting man in the world.

He and I met when we interviewed for HondaJet on the same day and I learned he´d be my manager. A very lucky day for me. I realized right away Jeff just makes you feel better about yourself. As long as you earn it of course. It´s impossible to describe all the great times my wife and I and my friends had with Jeff over the years. I imagine not a single day will go by when I don´t think about him and I don´t think I´ll ever fully accept him being gone. Just a very rare bird all the way around - one of my best friends and best manager I ever had. I´ll always miss the Wingman but I don´t think he went very far away.
