Jeffrey "Jeff" Wayne Smith, a resident of Sterling Heights for the past eight years and formerly of Warren, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, at the age of 56 after a brief illness.
Born February 9, 1969, in Warren, Michigan, to Kyle Ray Smith Sr. and Mollie Ann (née Gibson) Smith, Jeff was raised in Warren and graduated from Fitzgerald High School. In his young years, he played football and wrestled in high school and was an avid biker, riding both mountain and BMX bikes and competing in his youth.
Jeff went on to build a long and dedicated career as a door installer and serviceman for industrial doors, most recently with Motor City Door Company. Known for his tireless work ethic, Jeff always prioritized providing for his beloved family and ensuring their happiness.
On November 6, 1993, Jeff married his wife, Yvette, in Madison Heights. Together, they shared many wonderful years, raising their daughters with love and devotion. Jeff cherished family vacations, exploring destinations such as Disney, Las Vegas, Tennessee, Georgia, New Jersey, and Washington.
Jeff had a passion for cooking, a talent for drumming, and recently found joy in modifying Hot Wheels cars. Above all, he was a devoted husband, the best "girl dad," and recently embraced the joy of being a grandfather. Jeff was truly one of a kind - a selfless, loving man whose legacy of kindness, devotion, and family-first values will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Yvette Smith; daughters, Taylor Smith, Mackenzie Smith, Madison (fiancé Kyle Carter) Smith, Emalee Laxton, and Amaya Miller; granddaughter, Aubrey Lori Ann Carter; parents, Kyle Ray Smith Sr. and Mollie Smith; brother, Kyle Ray (Elizabeth) Smith Jr.; and nieces and nephews, James, Jennifer, Jordan, and Ayden. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lori Ann Smith.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, October 25, from 12:00 to 4:00 PM, with a memorial service commencing at 4:00 PM, at Gramer Funeral Home Diener Chapel, 48271 Van Dyke Avenue, Shelby Township, Michigan 48317.

Condolences to the Smith family. We are very sorry to hear of the passing of Jeff. We lived next door to the family for many years in Warren, we always appreciated Jeff's help with our garage door issues and watched the kids grow up. Steve and Annmarie LaDuke
