Auburn - Jeffrey A. Smith, 69, of Auburn, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at his home.

Jeffrey was born on May 13, 1956, in Fort Wayne, to the late Francis and Aline Smith.

Jeff began his working life as a dishwasher at Leo Café in Leo. He later worked in maintenance at Glenbrook Square Mall for 14 years, followed by 17 years in custodial services with East Allen County Schools before retiring. He took pride in his work and the many connections he made throughout his career.

A devoted fan of Fort Wayne Komets Hockey, Jeff also found joy in life's simple pleasures. He was outgoing and friendly, always eager to strike up a conversation. He enjoyed working on 100-piece puzzles, spending time outdoors, and caring for cats. Jeff was also attending Dayspring Community Church, where he found fellowship and faith.

Jeff is survived by his lifelong best friend, Ed Sink of Fort Wayne; siblings, Gregory F. (Rosemary) Smith of Bothell, Washington; Beverly G. Smith of Indianapolis; Bradley K. (Mary) Smith of Dearborn Heights, Michigan; and Rodney B. (Brenda) Smith of Indianapolis; nieces, Theresa (Mark) Ochoniero, Kylie (Michael) Nussbaum, Maggie Smith, and Heather Smith; nephews, Brian Smith and Zak George; great niece, Sydney George; great nephew, Relic George Sadek; He is also survived by dear friends, Joe and Lorri Graves of Auburn.
