Jeffrey Winfield Tilley, age 54, of Marion, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 into the arms of Jesus. He was born in Buncombe County on April 25, 1967 to the late Ben and Carolyn Withrow Tilley.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Shellie Boone.
Jeff was a member of Garden Creek Baptist Church but had been attending New Manna Baptist Church. He formally worked for the Department of Corrections, but more recently had been working for the McDowell County Schools. Jeff enjoyed working in his garden, fishing and watching birds. He loved spending time with his family. He loved helping others and was always looking for opportunities to spread the gospel to others.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife Heather Lovik Tilley; three children, Carolyn Nance, Lance Tilley and Kasey Kirkland; mother, Marjorie Tilley; mother and father-in-law, Lloyd and Keva Lovik. Also surviving Jeff are his siblings, Lydia Effler (Chet), Ethan Tilley (Teri), Paul Boone (Ammie), Tim Boone (Lisa), Natalie Gouge (Rick) and Bonnie McCullough (Grant); seven grandchildren; uncle Mike Tilley and aunt Betty Mainer.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at New Manna Baptist Church with Reverends Alan McKinney, Tony Shirley, Milton Hollifield, Jr. and Mr. William Morris officiating. A private family interment will be held on a later date.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in Jeff’s memory are asked to consider, McDowell County Department of Social Services for Foster Children, Post Office Box 338, Marion, North Carolina 28752.
