Jeffrey Martin Williams of Tucker, GA died June 2nd, 2025. Born July 15, 1948, he was a native of Clarksburg, West Virginia, who grew up in Tampa, Florida. He was a graduate of LaGrange College. He taught school in Harrison County and LaGrange City Schools, then moved to the Savannah area when he was hired by BellSouth. After 32 years with BellSouth, he retired as a manager from BellSouth Business Systems' Federal Government Marketing District. While at BellSouth, Jeff was awarded for innovative and outstanding services to the company.
Jeff was a steadfast husband and father. He was predeceased by one daughter, Natalie Elizabeth Deal Williams and his parents, Irvan Grant Williams and Bernice Bartlett Shulz. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Deal Williams, of Tucker; children Ashley Williams Martin (Whit) of Gainesville, Katie Williams Atcheson (Adam) of Lawrenceville, Benjamin Jeffrey Williams (Rachel) of Wetumpka, AL; and nine beloved grandchildren.
Jeff was active in his community. He tilled gardens and built compost piles for Nancy Creek School, served as a Citizen Advisor for the city of Chamblee, and supported BSA Troop 21, particularly as Eagle Packet Advisor and a member of the Eagle Board of Review. Jeff was the kind of man who quietly helped people. He drove people to hospitals, to and from medical appointments; he tilled gardens for elderly friends.
He was active in church, serving Saint Martin Lutheran Church as Financial Secretary. He was a member of the Men's Bible Study group. He was a devout Christian and had no fear of death.
Jeff had an irrepressible sense of humor. When faced with difficulties, he drew upon his sense of the absurd, and when an opportunity to prank (gently) a family member or a co-worker, he would go to great lengths to set it up.
He had many interests: He was a talented woodworker and delighted in restoring antique furniture. He wove chair backs and bottoms, he kept bees and learned to split hives. He provided native habitat for birds, bees, and pollinators. He grew many kinds of vegetables and fruit-which he shared with friends and neighbors. Jeff learned to carve walking sticks and to blacksmith at the John C. Campbell Folk School. He loved cooking and grilling, entertaining friends and family.
For Jeff, "husband" was a verb. His life was a testament to his love and commitment to his family. He died surrounded by his wife and children, beloved as a husband and father, a man who lived a life in full.
A Memorial Service will beheld on Sunday, June 22, at 1:30 pm at Saint Martin Lutheran Church of Atlanta. 1824 Piedmont Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30324
