Canandaigua – Jeffrey Butler Young, age 84, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, August 14, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carol Young; son, David (Lisa) Young; daughter, Catherine (James) Kelley; five grandchildren, Tyler (Tiffany) Young, Emily Young, James (Kaylee) Kelley, Caitlin (Steven) Bonanni and Kyle Kelley (Nick Crisler); two great-grandchildren, Hudson and Bennett Kelley; sister, Martha Quinn; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dianne Archer, Raymond and Myra Bauch, Donald and Susan Bauch; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jeff was predeceased by his parents, Ollie and Jean Young; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Luther and Madelyn Bauch; brother-in-law, Barry Quinn; and nephew, Jonathan Bauch.

Jeff was born in Akron, Ohio in March of 1941 and was the son of W. Oliver and Jean (Butler) Young. He was a graduate of Honeoye Falls High School, class of 1959 and received his associate's degree from R.I.T., class of 1961. Jeff met his wife Carol while at R.I.T. and they were married in 1964. He worked for the Honeoye Falls newspaper for many years and then at L.A. Bauch, Inc., as a bean and grain broker and owner. Jeff was a member of the Canandaigua Rotary Club where he was a past President and Paul Harris Fellow recipient. He also served on numerous church committees throughout the years.

Jeff enjoyed boating and fishing on Canandaigua Lake. He was an avid gardener, growing many varieties of vegetables. His favorite pastime was reading, especially mysteries. Jeff's greatest joy was watching his children and grandchildren in their many activities and sports. He and Carol enjoyed their yearly family trips to Cape Cod, MA and wintering in Bonita Springs, FL.

Jeff's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center for the loving care and compassion shown to Jeff and his family while he was a resident.

His memorial service will be held Thursday, August 21, at 2 pm, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 183 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Canandaigua Emergency Squad, 233 N. Pearl St., Canandaigua, NY 14424, Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department, 4285 Rte. 21, Canandaigua, NY 14424 or Canandaigua Rotary Club, P.O. Box 671, Canandaigua, NY 14424. Arrangements are by Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., Canandaigua. Condolences may be offered at www.johnsonkennedy.com.
