Dennis Ray Young, 81, of Kiowa, passed away Friday, August 15, 2025, at his home.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. His ashes will be buried at Savanna Cemetery at a later date.

Dennis was born September 20, 1943, in Moore, Oklahoma, to Ernest and Bessie (Ayers) Young. He grew up in Moore and later attended school in Savanna. Dennis proudly served in the U.S. Army, spending time stationed in Germany. He married Catha Lee Willie in March of 1970 and she preceded him in death in 2005.

Following his military service, Dennis built a career as a truck driver, heavy equipment operator and mechanic, working for Pepsi Cola in McAlester during the 1980s. He later joined Pittsburg County District II, where he dedicated more than 20 years. His co-workers affectionately nicknamed him "Blue Top" for his exceptional skill in spreading gravel with a dump truck-a talent that became his trademark on the job.

Beyond his work, Dennis found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time with his family and took pride in working around his home and property. His steady presence, strong work ethic, and kind spirit will be remembered by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Young; mother, Bessie McClendon; wife, Catha Lee Young; brothers, Don Young, Doyle Young, and Coy Dean Young; and sister, Loretta Nelson.

Dennis is survived by his son, John Young and wife Joy; brother, Lonnie Young and wife Dianna; sisters, Joyce Gibbs, Sandra Kay

Landers; brother-in-law, Charles Nelson; sister-in-law, Shirley Willie; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
