Connie Ellen Hicks, 60, of McAlester, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2026, in Tulsa.

The Rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Bishop Chapel of Memories.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Saint John the Evangelist Church, with the Very Reverend Jovita Okonkwo officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in McAlester.

Connie was born October 6, 1965, in Kankakee, Illinois, to James Fain Hicks and Armella (Herrmann) Hicks. She graduated from McAlester High School in 1984 and continued her education at St. Gregory's University in Shawnee, attending for two years. Connie worked as a substitute teacher and as a waitress at several area restaurants until a car accident impaired her ability to work full time.

She was a faithful member of Saint John the Evangelist Church.

Connie found joy in completing word finds and other word games, creating arts and crafts, and spending time on her electronic tablet.

She cherished simple pleasures and the companionship of those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. James F. Hicks; her brother, Thomas F. Hicks; her paternal grandparents, William and Vera Hicks; her maternal grandparents, Maurice and Bernice Herrmann; her uncles, Charles Hicks and Frank Herrmann; and her aunt, Betty Baumann.

Connie is survived by her devoted partner and caregiver of twenty years, Jimmy Smith; her son, Cadin Windle and wife, Julia; her beloved granddaughter, Scarlet Windle; her mother, Armella (Herrmann) Hicks; her aunt, Ellen Herrmann; her cousins, Kenny Baumann and wife, Holley, Tonya Watson and husband, Jim, and Michelle Baumann; her second cousins, Natalie, Noel, Trevor, Sienna, Naomi, and Stella; along with many other family members and friends.

Connie will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
