Sunny Gale Spinks

Sunny Gale Spinks, 66, a lifelong resident of McAlester, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, following a brief illness.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the Bishop Chapel of Memories. A celebration of Sunny's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 16, 2026, at the Bishop Chapel of Memories with Reverend Daniel Morrison officiating.

Sunny was born on September 19, 1959, to Lawrence "Sonnie" Beshear and Margaret (Hanes) Beshear. She married the love of her life, Terry Wade Spinks, on July 25, 1980. Together they built a life rooted in family, laughter, and unwavering devotion to one another. Their love was steady, strong, and an example to all who knew them.

A proud graduate of McAlester High School, Class of 1977, Sunny later attended East Central University, earning her Bachelor's degree in Accounting. She dedicated many years of faithful service as comptroller for the Kiowa power plant and also served her community as a member of the Rural Water District No. 9 Board. She took pride in her work and gave generously of her time and talents.

Sunny was known for her strong will, protective spirit, and fierce loyalty. She loved deeply and stood firmly for those she cared about. Nothing brought her more joy than her grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure and delighted in spoiling every chance she got. Her family was her heart, and she made sure they always knew it.

She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Thomas Spinks and Rosanne, Matthew Spinks and wife Christina; her special niece, Rachel Morsch; her brother, Dick Beshear; and her cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth, Abraham, Caroline, R.J., Emily, and Aiden. She is also remembered by cousins who were like sisters-Sarah Lance, Tina Nelson, Annie Roddy, Teresa Kopenheiner-along with many extended family members and dear friends whose lives she touched in countless ways.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Terry, in 2021, and by her parents, Lawrence "Sonnie" Beshear and Margaret (Hanes) Beshear. While her family rejoices in knowing she is reunited with them, she will be deeply missed every day.

Sunny's strength, love, and unwavering devotion to her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
