Craig Alan Griffin, 60, of
Burnet, TX, met his Savior on February 6, 2026, after a valiant fight against
cancer. Known as "Coach" to thousands of students in Texas and Oklahoma, he deeply impacted lives
both on and off the field.
Born in
Edinburg, TX, on June 15, 1965, to Hal and Mary Nell Griffin, Craig and his beloved older
brother, Buddy, enjoyed a shared love of all things football and camping. Craig attended Waxahachie
High School and received his Bachelor of Science from East Central University in
Ada, OK, in 1989. His
first coaching position was at Lorena High School in
Lorena, TX, in 1989. He taught and coached at
multiple schools during his 34-year career.
In 1990, he married Mischelle Price in Hewitt, TX. For the next 36 years of their life together, they would
move at least half that number of times and buy twice that number of cars. In 1994 and 1997, the lights of
their lives arrived as they welcomed a daughter, Rachyl, and a son, Harrison. Craig always said that,
though his children were born in Oklahoma, they got them back to Texas as quickly as they could. No
matter where they lived, the family faithfully attended church. Through both his words and actions, Craig
modeled Jesus's compassion and wisdom-while also living out of the John Wayne codebook.
Craig is survived by his wife, Mischelle Griffin, and their children's families: Rachyl Parker and her
husband, Sidney, with their son Samson; Harrison Griffin and his wife, Kyrie', with their daughter,
Kendra; and by his mother-in-law, Judy Price. He is also survived by his brother, Buddy Griffin, and wife
Lesha; nephew, Brad Griffin, and wife, Savannah; niece, Katie Hixon, and husband, Aaron;
great-nephews, Easton and Zeke Griffin; and beloved aunts, an uncle, and cousins in California. He was
preceded in death by his parents, Hal and Mary Nell Griffin.
Craig's favorite Bible verse was Isaiah 40:31: "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
A memorial service will be held on February 20, 2026, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church Burnet in Burnet,
TX.
To honor his memory, donations may be made to ARK of the Highland Lakes or the Burnet Education
Foundation.
