Swearingen Funeral Home - SeminoleBowlegs, OK resident Neva Kay Vanaria passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 in Oklahoma City at the age of 71. Neva was born on October 31, 1954 in Seminole, OK to Howard and Patricia June (Taber) Williams. She earned her bachelor’s degree in art education from East Central University and loved her career as an art teacher.
Neva was a member of the Seminole Holiness Church. She had a heart of gold. Neva loved being with her family more than anything. She spent countless hours painting, drawing and doing arts and crafts with her grandchildren. She also planned the best movie nights.
Neva is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Shannon and Edith Cathey of Bowlegs, OK; daughter and son-in-law, Shawna and Alfredo Lopez Martinez of Bowlegs, OK; brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Jean Williams of Wewoka, OK; five grandchildren, Cadence Pulver, Alley Cathey, Alex Cathey, Isabella Martinez and Aurora Martinez; three great grandchildren, Raven, Angel and Reuben Pulver and many other family and friends.
Neva was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Patricia Williams and husband, Basile Vanaria.
Neva’s family will celebrate her life on Friday, April 3, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Starting Point (Temple of Praise) Church located at 1100 N. University Street, Seminole, OK 74868. Bill Burns and Jeff Nance will be officiating.
