Jennifer "Jenny" Dazey, 46, was sadly taken from this world with her canine companion, Echo, at home on Thursday, January 18, 2024.
She was born August 24, 1977, to Ambrose and Susan (Roth) Dazey in Hawaii Jenny called Dubuque, IA, home for most of her life.
There will be a celebration of life at Denny's Lux Club at , on Friday, January 26, at 4 pm. Jenny never wanted people to mourn for her traditionally, just to party and celebrate her. Due to her health, she discussed with her family that we cremate her in the event of her death and her ashes scattered in the ocean; the family's goal is to get her to all five. Jenny loved traveling and disliked snow. Fun, bright colors are encouraged, including her favorite color, purple. For those wanting to celebrate, please bring your favorite memory of Jenny and be ready to party the way she would have enjoyed.
Those left behind to cherish her memories include her parents; her children, Nick Frey, Kylie and Tyler; siblings Bridget (Jered), Joshua, Katie Tressel (Randy), Phyllis (Brett), and Alex; nieces Morgan Dazey and Kennedy Noonan, nephews Killian Tressel; and family, too many to name. She is survived by so many friends who were there for her, and the family wishes they could include all of them by name. The family thanks each of them for everything they have done for her.
Jenny enjoyed life and pulled everyone into her light. She was a unique, carefree spirit, a loving person who did not care what people thought of her. Jenny was working on healing herself and was beginning to learn to garden. She would spend her days traveling, meeting new people, and being there for those she loved. Her smile and laugh was contagious. Her hugs were legendary.
Her greatest accomplishment was becoming a mother of three. She loved her kids more than anything and always rooted for them in their endeavors. To her, the family was not necessarily those who shared blood with her but those who loved and supported her. She loved family so much that it never mattered who it was; a stranger became family to her, and she will have forever imprinted herself onto many hearts.
You could find her any given day taking photos with her gnome, Willy, singing karaoke at random farmers markets, and seeing the country. One of her goals was to travel to each of the 50 states, and she was short by a few. Her kindness was palpable, and she went above and beyond to be present for those who needed her.
She was a gifted photographer. She graduated from the school of hard knocks and survived brain tumors and multiple surgeries.
The world is a little less bright without her. She lived. She loved.
To Jenny:
You were a great mom. (Nick) Take comfort knowing your presence and legacy is that of joy. We will miss your daily affirmations. Echoing love. Rest in peace.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made directly to a fund set up for Nick and Kylie at .
