Jennifer Grothues Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dettling Funeral Home on May 31, 2025.
Jennifer Elaine Grothues of Houston was called home to be with the Lordon May 28, 2025. Jennifer was born April 1, 1975, in Houston, Texas, to Stephen Patrick and Janis Patrick Wells. She is preceded in death by her father, Stephen Patrick and her sister, Allison Patrick Crow. She is survived by her husband, Trent, of 28 years of marriage; her children Gavin and Georgia; and her mother, Janis.
Jennifer, originally from Missouri City, Texas, graduated from Dulles High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Texas A&M University, where she was a proud member of the
Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and a Southern Belle for the Kappa Alpha Order fraternity.
Jennifer was an incredible teacher and poured her heart into the lives of hundreds of kids. She was known for her boundless patience, creativity, and dedication. Jennifer's compassionate heart, easy laugh, and joyful spirit were a gift to both her students and her fellow teachers. She was a beacon of encouragement and her classroom was always a place of warmth and curiosity. Jennifer's laughter, kindness, and unwavering belief in the potential of others left an indelible mark not just on her students, but also on her colleagues and the community she served.
When it came to loving others, Jennifer set the bar incredibly high. She had a knack for knowing exactly what her friends and family needed at all times. Whether it was a home cooked meal, an encouraging note, a warm embrace, or a stiff cocktail, Jennifer was on it. Her dedication and willingness to show up for her loved ones never ceased. Jennifer's greatest joy in life was being a mother to Gavin and Georgia. She was
their greatest cheerleader and delighted in watching them pursue their dreams. Jennifer married the love of her life and it was evident to everyone that knew her. Jennifer and Trent's steadfast love, friendship, and loyalty to one another was an inspiration to everyone around them. They were a constant companion for one another and shared a deep love for their kids. Jennifer generously opened her heart and her home to friends and loved ones. She was an incredible cook and enjoyed sitting on the patio with good music and good wine. Jennifer loved playing mahjong, reading, and traveling with friends and family. She was truly one of a kind. Jennifer brought infinite joy, kindness, and love into this world and she will be missed beyond measure.
A Memorial Service celebrating Jennifer's life will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church 12955 Memorial Dr. Houston, TX 77079. Reception to immediately follow at the church in Friendship Court.
