Jere Eugene Johnston, born on August 19, 1937, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, just one day shy of his 88th birthday. Throughout his lifetime, Jere touched the lives of those around him with his steadfast dedication to family and his vibrant passion for life. For many years, Jere worked diligently as a fueler at Delta Airlines. His dedication to his work was matched by his love for leisure activities, most notably his enthusiasm for watching Nascar races and wrestling matches. These pastimes brought him joy and fostered connections with fellow enthusiasts. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Johnston, and his son, Glen Johnston, as well as his parents, Elizabeth and Joseph Johnston. He also mourned the loss of his siblings: Florence (Clifford) Johnson, Ann Johnston, Joe Johnston, Kenneth (Diane) Johnston, Jack Johnston, and John Thomas Johnston. Jere is survived by his loving daughters, Andrea Cunningham and Gena Walker. He leaves behind cherished siblings, Katherine (Jerry) Coleman, Stanton (Beverly) Johnston, and Jimmy (Karen) Johnston. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Jason (Devon) Cunningham, Joshua (Alex) Cunningham, Courtney Walker, Jessica Cunningham, Chelsea Walker, Camron Walker, Joseph Cunningham, and Jaclyn Cunningham. Furthermore, he is fondly remembered by his great-grandchildren, Mekena Newmeyer, Nash Cunningham, Ace Cunningham, and Miller Cunningham. Jere's memory will also live on in the hearts of his many nieces and nephews. Jere Eugene Johnston will be remembered by all who knew him for his unwavering commitment to his loved ones and the simple joys that filled his days. His gentle spirit and caring heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
