Born in Greenpoint, Brooklyn to Marie and Joe Sheehan on December 17, 1950, Jerry was raised there and continued to live there for a year after marrying the love of his life, Bernadette. Eventually, they then moved to Manhattan, where they lived for the next five years. In 1986 they made the move to Clifton and have resided there since. He was a graduate of Regis High School and went on to earn his undergraduate degree from Fordham University in 1972 and then his Juris Doctorate from Fordham University School of Law in 1975. Jerry spent most of his legal career as Counsel at Manatt, Phelps and Phillips in Manhattan, getting the most satisfaction from his Pro Bono efforts working with Holocaust survivors. He completed his career as Counsel with Countrywide Insurance, also in Manhattan. Throughout his life, he always maintained a true passion for history.
Jerry was predeceased by his dearly missed parents, Jeremiah J. (Joe) and Marie (nee Darragh) Sheehan.
He is survived by his beloved wife of forty-five years, Bernadette Rose (nee Boone) Sheehan, of Clifton; his two loving and devoted children: Jeremiah Richard (Jay) Sheehan, of Clifton and Virginia Marie (Ginny) Sheehan-Michie and her husband, James Montelle Michie V (Monty), also of Clifton; his six dear brothers: Neil of Brooklyn, Danny of Long Island, John of Long Island, Brian of Long Island, Patrick of New York and Kevin of Brooklyn; his loved sister, MaryAnn DiNorcia of Long Island; and by his many cherished nieces and nephews. May his memory be a blessing.
Visiting will be Wednesday 2-7pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral Thursday 10:15am from the funeral home and 11:00am at St. Clare RC Church, 69 Allwood Road, Clifton. Interment to follow at Crest Haven Memorial Park, Clifton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org), 23 Vreeland Road, Suite #105, Florham Park, 07932. I had the pleasure of working with Mr Sheehan and his wonderful family. He was a very nice man and I enjoyed the conversations that I was able to have with him. My deepest condolences goes out to his loving wife (Bernadette) son (Jay) daughter (Virgina) and family.
