It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jeremy DeMent, who left this world on April 25, 2025 at the age of 35. A devoted husband, loving father, son, brother, nephew, uncle, and friend, Jeremy's legacy is one of deep compassion, selfless service, and unwavering love for those around him.
Born on October 30, 1989 and raised in Coquille, Oregon, Jeremy graduated from Myrtle Point High School in 2008. He was active in 4H and very proud of his accomplishments. He excelled in Karate and truly loved the sport. Jeremy loved reminiscing about those days. Growing up, he loved the outdoors. His hobbies were hunting and riding his 4-wheeler. He also enjoyed hanging out with his dog, Brutus, who he talked about a lot.
Jeremy prided himself as a reserve police officer where he served his community with courage and integrity, until leaving Oregon in 2013. Jeremy moved to Williston, North Dakota, where he worked as a security officer, later pursuing a career in the oilfield, working at Kinder Morgan as a gauger.
Above all, Jeremy was a family man. He found true love in 2018 when he met Illana, who would later become his wife. He then proposed in 2020 during a trip to Oregon. He and Illana loved traveling to South Dakota, where they would eventually marry at Sylvan Lake in September 2021. As a couple, they loved hunting, playing pool, and riding his motorcycle.
The highlight of Jeremy's life was the birth of his son Casey Elijah Troy DeMent, who was born in March of 2024. He was never prouder of anything than of the family he had built. He found his greatest joy in spending quality time with his loved ones and making lasting memories.
Jeremy had a natural gift for making friends wherever he went. His welcoming smile, thoughtful heart, and helpful nature left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. Whether it was riding his motorcycle through the open roads or heading out for a hunt, he found peace and purpose in the outdoors and in the company of those he loved, including his dog, Spades.
Jeremy was loved immensely by Illana's family. He was like a son to her parents and will be deeply missed by the whole family. His sense of humor fit right in, and his beautiful smile warmed his mother in law's heart! Mere words can't express how much he meant to them.
He is survived by his wife, Illana; his son, Casey; mother, Rebecca and stepfather, Orie Foster; paternal grandmother, Theresa DeMent; aunt, Alicia (Jason) Adkins; sisters, Misty (Evan) Beck, Tia DeMent; brother, Troy "TJ" DeMent, Jr; father and mother-in-law, Paul and Lisa Coler; sisters-in-law, Darla Davis, Stacy Fleming; brothers-in-law, Shane McCarty, Patrick Fleming, Chris Davis, nieces, nephews, cousins, and his faithful dog, Spades.
He is now reunited with his father, Troy Delano DeMent, Sr; paternal grandfather, Gary DeMent; maternal grandfather, Herbert Spivey; maternal grandmother, Martha Spivey; best buddy, Brutus; many other cherished relatives and friends. His spirit will continue to live on in the lives he touched and the love he gave so freely.
Jeremy will be remembered for his big heart, friendly spirit, and the love he poured into everything he did. He was truly one of a kind, and he will be deeply missed.
Jeremy would not want everyone to dress up, so please feel free to dress casual.
