“Laughter is the closest distance between two people.” (Victor Borge)
Jeremy Daniel Marx was born August 17, 1973, and passed away suddenly on October 28, 2025.
Jeremy was born the youngest son of Robert Marx and Patricia Marx (Gracey) in Salt Lake City. He has two older brothers: Radley and Robert.
During his childhood Jeremy lived in multiple places around the world while his father served as lieutenant-commander aviator and flight instructor for the U.S. Navy. Jeremy had interesting stories to tell about his experiences living in Italy, Florida, and San Diego as a child and a teenager. When his father finished his military career, the family settled in Utah.
Jeremy was sealed to the love of his life, Heather Duffin, in the Salt Lake Temple, on April 7, 2017. They have one child, Michael Marx, who is three years old.
Describing Jeremy is like trying to describe a kaleidoscope. He was a person of many interests and deep passions. He loved to learn and study, whether it was current events, politics, history, technology, gardening, etc. He took his hobbies seriously, exploring every aspect of each different discipline. He was smart, naturally inquisitive, and creative. His love for all things Disney led him to join a non-profit Disney historical society where he sat on the Board for over 10 years. His specialty was VR (Virtual Reality) re-creations of retired Disney attractions. He also helped scan and preserve large amounts of hard-copy Disney collections. He developed many great friendships and acquaintances over the years. He talked with great fondness about these friends from his Disney groups and various interactions.
Jeremy became interested in beekeeping and kept several of his own hives. He fascinated us with descriptions of the unique lifestyle of bees. He loved to garden with Heather and to be outdoors. He spent a lot of time hiking in his early-adult years and loved the mountains and national parks. He traveled extensively for work and pleasure. He laughed that in one year he spent over 50 days in Disney parks between California and Florida while living in Utah.
Jeremy was a foodie. He loved cooking, finding new recipes and creating delicious meals. He could take twenty minutes to make the perfect sandwich and would often bring out more spices and condiments for his sandwiches than for a regular meal. He loved things hot. He especially loved to make his own hot sauce and gave bottles of it to family members who shared his passion for spiciness.
His love of technology was legendary. He worked in IT for Solventum installing medical-record software for US Government facilities. He will be greatly missed by his co-workers both for his cheerful, friendly, and caring personality, and for his insights and work ethic.
He was always up on the latest technology. From his Meta glasses to figuring out how to use the new AI apps, he loved to learn and incorporate it into life. He recently used one of the AI apps to create a Murder Mystery game for his niece. Even with the AI assistance, he still spent hours and hours of time on the project. He loved to create! When Jeremy got his own 3-D printer, all family, close friends, and neighbors received gifts made on his machine. He printed clips to seal food bags, Christmas ornaments, and a variety of ingenious creations.
He loved playing games, whether it was board games, card games, or electronic games or putting together a Lego creation.
Jeremy loved people. And he loved to share a good laugh. He always wanted to brighten the day of friends and family. He was quick with jokes and tried to lighten others’ lives with a laugh. This was very important to him. He was approachable, easy to be around, engaging, kind, and generous with his love. His laughter was contagious. He had lifelong friends that took pleasure in spending time with him and delighted in his fun-loving personality. Jeremy had a fundamental love of life and a desire to live it completely and joyfully.
Jeremy loved family. He loved participating in any and all family related events. Whether it was Christmas night sleep overs, the Marx yearly family reunions, BBQs or birthday celebrations, Jeremy was all in.
Jeremy would most like to be remembered for his immense love for his Savior, his love for family, and his deep love for his beautiful wife and wonderful son. His was a life well lived. He made good decisions, stayed on the path of righteousness, and endured to the end. Although he was taken from us too soon, we are grateful for the time we had; and his life was a boon to all who knew him.
Jeremy is preceded in death by his father, Robert Marx (Andrea). He is succeeded in life by his wife, Heather Marx, and son, Michael Marx; his mother Pattie Gracey (Ban); and brothers, Radley Marx and Robert Marx (Michelle); and by many cherished in-laws and nieces and nephews.
Please. Help us to make sure Michael has the best chance to really know his dad. We would love for you to share pictures, stories, or impressions about Jeremy by sending what you have to our family historian, sister-in-law: [email protected]. Thank you!
