Jerry was born in Fairfax County, Virginia, to Marjorie George and Willard Manning Swanzy. He is survived by his sister Michelle Swanzy Foyt (Husband Arthur George Foyt), and his brother Joseph (Joe) Swanzy (Wife Susan (Sue) Swanzy).
He spent most of his youth in Olympia, Washington, where he graduated from Olympia High School. A talented tuba player, Jerry studied music at the University of Minnesota where he took pride in being a member of the nationally ranked marching band. He also attended the University of Washington. Jerry married his high school sweetheart Shelly Beswick and divorced her several years later. Without children of his own, Jerry loved and indulged his many nieces and nephews. Playing Santa Claus at Christmastime, he gave the children gifts with happy enthusiasm. He was an expert in car repair and for a time owned a transmission repair business. He later applied both his dynamic personality and talent as a salesman to a sales career at various companies. Honing his skills by taking numerous French Culinary courses, Jerry enjoyed gourmet cooking as a hobby. Most important, we will remember Jerry for his warmth, kindness and sense of humor. He was a true gentleman that will live in all our hearts.
