Jereta M. Harbert, a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew her, passed away on February 4, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born on October 2, 1945, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Harold and Christine Patrick.
Jereta’s career as a switchboard operator allowed her to weave connections with countless individuals. She had a profound ability to engage with others, a talent that came naturally and was only rivaled by her loving nature. Her dedication and commitment to family were apparent in every interaction. Jereta was also a very talented gymnast and loved to dance.
After graduating from Arsenal Tech High School, Jereta embarked on a remarkable journey, making lifelong memories alongside her devoted husband, Randy. Their partnership spanned an incredible 60 years, a testament to their deep bond and unwavering support for one another. They met through friends and quickly became inseparable. The two of them loved to travel, play cards, and go on many cruises.
Jereta is survived by her wonderful children, Bryan (Teri) Harbert and, Jill Harbert. Her grandchildren Brandon, Ashley (Wyatt) Ramey, Justin, and Brittany Kauffmann (T.J.) and cherished her great-grandchildren Ella, Aria and Jade who were often the centerpiece of joyous gatherings.
Jereta was preceded in death by her loving husband, Randy Harbert, and her parents, Harold and Christine Patrick. Their memories will forever intertwine with the legacy of love she has created for those who remain. The void left by her passing is immense, but the impact of her kindness will echo through memories as treasured as the time spent together.
Jereta Harbert's visitation will be held on February 10, 2025, at Washington Park East in Indianapolis, beginning at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Friends, family, and all who were touched by her spirit are invited to come share in the celebration of her life. It is a time to honor a woman whose love will forever guide and inspire those fortunate enough to have known her.
