Jerome M. Curley

SALEM - Mr. Jerome M. Curley, 76, of Salem, beloved husband of Doris E. (Farnam) Curley, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 1st, 2024 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Edmund and Eileen (Koen) Curley. He was raised and educated in Swampscott and was a graduate of Swampscott High School. Jerome continued his education receiving his bachelor's degree from Boston University and his Master of Theology from St. John's Seminary in Boston.
Jerome embarked on a long and successful career in social services, beginning as a Social Worker and later serving as Supervisor and Area Director with the Department of Children and Family Services for many years until the time of his retirement. Jerome also served as the Regional Director for the office of Early Education and Care for several years. His commitment to the welfare of others earned him respect and admiration from colleagues and community members alike.
Jerome was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who found great solace in the company of his family. He was truly happiest when surrounded by them enjoying a meal, sampling one of his tasty treats or celebrating one of their many milestones. He was a true jack of all trades and was known for his skills in carpentry and woodworking. He was always ready to lend a hand if there was a project that needed to be done. Jerome was an accomplished author, having penned several books about the history of Salem and was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle church Peabody. Jerome will be fondly remembered for his love of family and his kindness, generosity and dedication to the community he served and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving Jerome, in addition to his wife with whom he shared 43 years of marriage, are his daughters, Katherine Katzman and her husband, Matthew of Swampscott, Bridget Wilson and her husband, Dylan of Swampscott, his son, Matthew J. Curley and his wife, Claire of New York City, NY, his grandchildren, Nora, Maggie, Julia, Jack, and Sadie, his siblings, Anrita Talbot, Margaret Curley-Clay, Brenda Noyes, and Maura Curley and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Edmund Curley and Reverend Terence Curley.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to Jerome's funeral which will be held from O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) SALEM on Friday, December 6th, 2024 at 9 A.M. followed by his funeral Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1 Margin St., Peabody at 10 A.M. Burial is private. Visiting hours in the funeral home on Thursday, December 5th from 3 to 6 P.M. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Jerome's memory to Mass.
