I met Jerry at a silent buddhist retreat in upstate NYS perhaps 7-8 years ago- a few years before the 2020 pandemic began. Somehow despite the silence I left knowing many more people including Jerry. Soon we were meeting in Jerry's apartment for group meditation, discussion and contemplation of dharma teachings. Then came the pandemic and our group moved on line. I remember the last time we spoke; on a zoom group meeting just a few days before he died. Jerry wanted to debate the analysis of our contemplation. I thought Jerry was likely a reincarnated Tibetan monk due to his delight in debating. And I still believe that - I knew him as generous, warm, loving, compassionate and dedicated to the teachings. I will miss him

I met Jerry when I was invited to join the Buddhist teaching and meditation group he hosted in his apartment in Manhattan. I had just returned to NY from London and he took me under his wing, making sure that I received his emails about theatre events off Broadway and especially Lynn Nottage's work. It was clear how proud he was of his children and grandchildren and how he loved them. This was before the pandemic of course. When the lockdown started I spoke with him about moving the group online, which he did. What an amazing group of people he assembled and what generosity we all felt from him! He loved us all and never hesitated to tell us how important the group was to him. In a way, he saw it as part of his legacy, and the group meetings will continue in his memory and his abiding presence. May his memory be a blessing.

My first memory of Jerry was as a student at NY Insight. His adoption of Buddhist thought as a dedicated practitioner has been inspiring. I am happy to have had him as a friend and to see his transformation. George Pitagorsky
