Mr. Jerome Gerald Lachaussee, 84, of Wiggins, MS., passed away on October 12, 2025, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by those he loved. Jerome was born on March 21, 1941, in Pascagoula, MS, to his parents, Obeale and Elodie (Holland) Lachaussee. Jerome worked as a train dispatcher for forty-two years for the L and N Railroad before becoming CSX, where he was over the Mobile County Division. Throughout the years of his career, he became an avid historian of the L and N Railroad, and every artifact he collected will be donated to the Railroad Museum in Chattanooga, TN, in honor of Jerome. He was a family man who loved and cherished his wife and grandchildren, but most of all, he took ultimate joy in his great-granddaughter. Jerome was a devout Catholic whose faith always remained at the forefront of every decision he made. Jerome will be immensely missed by his family and those whom he loved and knew. Jerome is preceded in death by his wife of forty-nine years, Barbara Lachaussee, and his parents, Obeale and Elodie Lachaussee. Left to cherish the simple but impactful memories, his two daughters, Roxanne (Kenneth) Barnett of Wiggins and Melanie Velazquez of Wiggins; five grand children, Dalton Pecora, Mark Valazquez and Madison (Johnny) Martin, Mackenna Valazquez, and Elijah Barnett; one great-granddaughter, Hazel Pecora; and three siblings; Muriel (Billy) Farmer of Vancleave, Michael (Joyce) Lachaussee of Lucedale, and Janet Seymour of Ocean Springs; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
