Jerome Maday

Mass of Christian burial for Jerome Maday, 84, of Fairmont, MN, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2025, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont with full military honors immediately following the service by the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post #36 and the Martin County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1222. Burial will be held following the service in Calvary Cemetery in Fairmont. Visitation will be two hours prior to the time of service from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2025, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. Jerome passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at his home in Fairmont, MN. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Jerome Maday was born January 11, 1941, in Silver Lake Township, rural Martin County, MN, the son of Harry and Cora (Prull) Maday. He was baptized and later confirmed at Holy Family Catholic Church in East Chain, MN. Jerome attended school in Ceylon, MN, and graduated from Ceylon High School with the class of 1959.
Feeling a sense of duty to serve his country, Jerome enlisted with the United States Navy in June 1959, and served his country proudly working as an electrician on the USS Joseph P. Kennedy Jr.
On October 13, 1962, Jerome was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Dedrickson at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont, MN. During their first year of marriage, Jerome and Barbara made their home in Newport, RI, until Jerome received his honorable discharge in May of 1963. The couple then returned to Minnesota and made Fairmont their home and were blessed with two daughters, Michelle and Meredith.
Jerome worked for many years as a production engineer at Telex, retiring on March 7, 2003. Jerome loved the outdoors and looked forward to time spent hunting with friends and family. He was a member of the Martin County Conservation Club, Martin County Gun Club, and St. John Vianney Catholic Church where he was extremely active. Jerome and Barb looked forward to warm summer months spent at RJ's Lakeside Campground and Caribbean cruises.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Barbara Maday of Fairmont, MN; daughters, Michelle (Bradley) Morris of Fairmont, MN, and Meredith Maday (Mark Schott) of Fairmont, MN; grandchildren, Matthew Dahlke, Scott (Clare) Mosloski, Ashlyn Mosloski (Layne Boettcher), Carissa (Ethan) Curley, and Kara Morris; great-grandchildren, Lucas Mosloski, Avery Mosloski, Autumn Anderson, Kaylyn Schoer, Cooper LaMont, Everlee Curley, Isla Curley, Kyri McFarlane, and Jalen Morris; sister, Marie Funk; brother, John Maday (Liza Siler); special friends, Mike Funk and Sandy Maday; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Jerome is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Cora Maday; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bernard and Virginia Dedrickson; sisters, Elenor Kahl, Loretta Anderson; and a niece, Peggy Kahl.
