Jerome T. Scopelliti

Jerome T. "Jerry" Scopelliti passed away suddenly on October 3, 2025. Jerry was a remarkable man, a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, who dedicated his life to helping others.

Born in Norwalk, Connecticut, to Anna and James Scopelliti, Jerry loved his country and was very patriotic. He proudly served in the United States Air Force before earning his Master's degree, and a 30-hour Advanced Certificate in Clinical School Psychology. He went on to serve as a school psychologist for over 30 years. He began his career in Florence, South Carolina, and later returned north to continue his work at Port Chester High School, where he spent the majority of his career. Deeply respected and loved by students and colleagues alike, Jerry was known for his compassion, patience, and unwavering dedication. He often took calls from students after hours, guiding them through challenges both personal and academic. His genuine care and selflessness left an indelible mark on countless lives, as evidenced by the many heartfelt letters he received from former students long after they graduated.

Outside of his professional life, Jerry was an avid bowler and proudly served as the school's bowling coach, using yet another avenue to connect with and mentor young people. In his rare moments of solitude, he found joy in his favorite hobby-flying remote-controlled planes-a pastime that reflected both his curiosity and his love of planes.

Above all, Jerry's greatest joy came from spending time with his family. His wife, children, and grandchildren were the center of his world and the source of his deepest happiness.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Jane; his two cherished children, Ryan and Meghan; and his adored grandchildren, Fiona, Arianna, and Nicholas. He was predeceased by his loving parents, Anna and James Scopelliti and brother, Frank Scopelliti of Norwalk, Connecticut.

Though he may be gone, his warmth, wisdom, and kindness will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, October 16th, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 670 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers, NY. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY.
