Jerrell Mathis was born on October 13, 1982, to the parents of Jerry Cody and Loistene Robbins Mathis. Jerrell accepted Christ at an early age. His education included graduating from H. Grady Spruce High School, truck driving school, and HVAC school at Vatterott Education Center. Jerrell then went on to drive trucks for 20 plus years. He continued driving trucks for EVEX Logistics until his untimely death.

Jerrell was a true homebody and enjoyed being with family and friends. Jerrell loved going to eat with his children and watching movies. Jerrell was a fun and loving son, father, husband, and friend to many. Jerrell never met a stranger. He always lit up a room with a huge smile and his joyful spirit.

Jerrell is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Christine Robbins and Cody and Inez Mathis.

Jerrell leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, LaTedra Mathis; parents, Jerry and Loistene Mathis; daughter, Ja'Niah Mathis; son, Jerrell Mathis Jr., one brother, Michael Mathis (Rochelle); one uncle, Harold Givens (Reva); mother-in-love, Simuel Siggers, father-in-law, Matthew Siggers; sister-in-law, Makayla Siggers; special niece, Maliah Siggers, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
