In Loving Memory of Debra Jean Mathis

May 24, 1953 – July 28, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Debra Jean Mathis, who peacefully left this world on July 28, 2025, surrounded by family.
Debra was born on May 24, 1953, in Hobbs, New Mexico, to Opal and Charles Jacobs. She was a woman of deep love, resilience, and warmth-known for her generous spirit and unwavering support for those she loved.
Debra shared a beautiful life with her husband, Alvin Mathis, and together they created a family filled with strong bonds and cherished memories. She loved riding Harleys with her husband, tending to her garden, sewing, shopping, and spending quality time with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Opal and Charles Jacobs; her loving husband, Alvin Mathis; her daughter, Tina Mathis; and her brothers, Gary and Bobby Jacobs.
Debra is survived by her brother, Rick Jacobs, and her four daughters and their families: Theresa and Hubbell Self, and their children Zachary, his wife Sabrina and Skyler; Christina and Jeff Howard, and their fur babies Atreyu and Rocky; Alicia and Robby Price, and their children Trenadee, Kaylee, and Riylee; Felicia and Kyle Miller, and their children Devon, Makinsey, Reed, and Demi.
She was the heart of her family, a steady presence who showed strength in every season of life. Her memory will continue to live on in the stories we share, the laughter we echo, and the love that binds us all.
A graveside service will be held at Taft Westside Cemetery on August 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at OT's Cookhouse immediately after the service.
All who knew Debra and wish to honor her memory are warmly invited to attend.
