Jerrold Lee "Jerry" Griffin, 53, of Lantana and Wellington, FL, passed away peacefully on Friday September 13, 2024, in the Trustbridge Hospice Unit at Bethesda East, Boynton Beach, FL, after an extended illness. That same address was the place of his birth on June 4, 1971, in Bethesda Mem'l Hospital, Boynton Beach, FL. Jerry is survived by his mother, Judy Griffin McCrady, Lantana, his father and step-mother Wally and Penny Griffin, Lake Worth, his brother and sister-in-law Mike and Florence Griffin, Lantana, FL, his maternal uncle and aunt Richard and Noriko Moore, NYC, his step-sisters Robin Kleinsmith, and Patty & Derek Sebold, Parma, OH., and his Godmother Barbara Kenney, Hobe Sound, FL. Jerry was preceded in death by step-father Bill McCrady, his Godfather Bob Kenney, his step-mother Emily Griffin, and all his grandparents. Jerry leaves to cherish many fond memories by all his nieces and nephews, Ashton Griffin, Ft Lauderdale, FL, Kristina and Sean Craig, with their beautiful children Owen, Autumn and Hannah, Colorado Spgs, CO., Breana Griffin, Cocoa Beach, FL, and Nico Caballero, Paris, France. Jerry also leaves extended family Julie and Eric Hansen, Colorado Spgs, CO., ex-wife Dana Simmons, San Antonio, TX, and many McCrady step-relatives, aunts, uncles & cousins from Florida to Ohio.
Jerry will be forever missed by his faithful friends Illene Ikerd, Loxahatchee, FL., John David and Caroline Hogan, Middletown, VA., Lance Farley, FL., and Tony Valenza, Ft Wayne, IN. He will always be a part of the Lamphere clan in Clarkston, MI. Jerry attended schools in Lantana and Lake Worth, earned the rank of Life Scout with Boy Scout Troop 240, Lantana, and was a charter member of Living Word Lutheran Church, Lantana, where he was confirmed and learned to love the Lord. He was a graduate of Lake Worth High School. Jerry truly loved the outdoors, everything about Florida's nature preserves, parks and forests; he loved hiking, boating, fishing, archery, hunting with his hound dogs Scarlett and Bocephus, and spending time with the group of dedicated outdoorsmen and lifelong friends that he grew up with here in Palm Beach County. He loved bragging about rafting down the Snake River with his Grandpa Moore on his solo trip out west as a pre-teen. Jerry had a 30-year career as a heavy equipment operator for site development contractors and was very proud of his work. He loved his job assignments and never missed an opportunity years later to point out with pride all the local sites that he had worked on.
The family welcomes you to join Jerry's Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 1:00 pm, to be held at Proclaim Church, 2116 Lantana Road, Lantana, FL. (the previous site of Jerry's Lutheran church).
Service to be officiated by Pastor Andrew J. Hagen, from Advent Lutheran, Boca Raton
