Mr. Jerruel "Jerry" Ray Morgan, Sr., aged 95, passed away on July 13, 2025, at the Veterans Center in Ardmore, Oklahoma. A funeral service to celebrate his life will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson, Oklahoma, with Bro. Darryl Howard officiating. Following the service, interment will be held at Morgan Rest Cemetery.

Jerry was born on August 8, 1929, in Cheek, Oklahoma, to the late Mr. John Cloy Morgan and Mrs. Mamie Oeita (Cartwright) Morgan. He spent his formative years in Springer, where he contributed to helping his father on a dairy farm. At the age of 17, Jerry enlisted in the United States Army, serving honorably for two years. Upon his discharge, he completed his education, graduating from Lone Grove High School.

On March 28, 1962, Jerry married Bertha "Bert" Lee Romines at the Marietta courthouse. They established their home in Cheek, where both worked at Michelin until their retirement. In addition to their careers, the couple engaged in farming and ranching. Jerry had a deep love for his family and all his grandchildren and was a dedicated member of the Cheek Baptist Church for 70 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Bert, who passed on July 4, 2024; his son, Johnny Travis Morgan; his daughter, Jeannie Leigh Poplin; and his siblings, Zala D. Elledge, Cloyce Biles, and Forest Morgan.

Jerry is survived by his sons, Jerruel Ray Morgan, Jr. and wife Sarah, and James Cloy Morgan and wife Tammy, both of Lone Grove; his daughter, Ruthie Morgan of Norman; and his sisters, Myrna Pletcher of Ardmore, Barbara Thompson of Gene Autry, and Judy Shelton of Nebraska. He leaves behind ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many other family members and friends.

Pallbearers for the service will include Ray Morgan, Anthony Roe, Sammy Roe, Allen Elledge, Bill Dewbre, and Johnny Dewbre. Honorary bearers are his grandchildren, Jim Gillaspy, Bobby Joy, Doug Henson, Sylvia Dewbre, David Wolfe and Bill Joy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Cheek Baptist Church, located at 1535 Cheek Rd, Lone Grove, OK 73443, or that you visit residents at the Ardmore Veterans Center or a local nursing home in Jerry's honor.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Ardmore VA Center and Good Shepherd Hospice for their exceptional care during Jerry's final days.
