Jerry was the son of Charlie and Geneva Newkirk Albin. He was born on December 3, 1943, in California, Mo. He attended and graduated from California Schools. Jerry worked most of his life as a truck driver for Holsum Bakery, Toastmaster, TLI and Ryder trucking company. During that time, he also was a member of the Cooper County Sheriff Department and was also a Major as a reserve officer for the Boonville Police Department. Jerry retired in 2006 and then went to work for the Boonville School District as a crossing guard at 6th and Bingham until November of 2018.
Jerry married Joyce Seek of Tipton February 5, 1966, in Van Buren, Missouri. They were the parents of 5 children, Jerry W. Albin of Diamond, MO, Dana (Randy) Ray, Gregory (Diane) Albin, Christi (Mark) Morrison of Boonville and Marcia Albin of Lexington, MO. They have 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Jerry is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Judy and her husband Dean Lord, sister Trudy Taylor, sister Sharon Albin, and 2 grandsons Austin Elmore and Zachary Ray and great granddaughter Presley Hill.
Jerry enjoyed playing his guitar and was often seen at nursing homes in the Boonville area playing and singing for the residents with Country Grass and E-Z Toones. He enjoyed many Friday night jams at the New Franklin Friendship Christian Fellowship Church. He wrote a few songs including one he received many requests for, "I Want to See Your Son First of All." He always said God gave him that song as it was written one night as he was driving between Springfield, MO and Tulsa, OK. He was quick to add he did pull off the road to write it down as the words came to him. Jerry also loved to spend time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was well known for going out for a drive and searching for new roads to travel. Jerry was an active member of the Church of God of Prophecy in California.
Arrangements are under the direction of Howard-Millard Funeral Home, 1397 Ashley Rd., Boonville, Mo 65233 (660) 882-3381. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.howardfh.com.
