Mr. Jerry B. Andrews, age 83, of Andalusia passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. Services will be held on Saturday, August 9, at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Kevin Wilburn officiating. Internment will be following at the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. The Family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00 with the service following at 11:00.
Jerry was born to Jack and Blanche Andrews on December 19, 1941. He married his wife of 62 years, Linda Messick Andrews, and made their home in Andalusia for the last 60 years. He graduated from Opp High School in 1960 and Auburn University in 1964. Jerry started his career at Alatex and spent over 30 years working at Alabama Electric Cooperative (PowerSouth) until his retirement in 2001.
He loved the Andalusia community, serving in various roles for the Kiwanis Club, as well as former Andalusia City Councilman, and former Andalusia Mayor.
A favorite role of Jerry's was that of Granddaddy. He dearly loved his grandchildren and they were his pride and joy! His children, Traci and Michael, as well as the five grandchildren could always count on Granddaddy for wise counsel, loving arms and lots of fun. He and Linda traveled tirelessly over the years to visit and participate in the grandchildren's special events, sports competitions, dance, graduations and holidays. They made such an effort to instill family first in all of our lives. He was a second Dad to all the grands, as well as his beloved grand dogs.
Jerry and Linda were extremely fortunate to have a very special group of close family friends from FBC that they travelled and fellowshipped with over the last 50 years. These dear friends are also our family and have been a great source of joy, comfort and support over years.
Jerry was an active member of First Baptist Church since 1968 where he served as a deacon, church choir member, and various church committees over the years. He enjoyed his gardens, books, traveling and was constantly curious. He never lost his love of learning. Jerry also was a huge Andy Bulldog fan and had a tremendous love for Auburn football as well.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Linda, their children, Traci Andrews Korkowski and husband, Jeff, and Michael Andrews and wife, Wendy; grandchildren Caroline Andrews Earnest (Hunter), Lillian Andrews Graham (Riley), Andrew Korkowski, Leah Korkowski and Kate Korkowski.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to First Baptist Church Beyond 2020.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Korkowski, Hunter Earnest, Riley Graham, Ashton Wells, Lex Short, and Steve Posey. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ed Short, Danny Posey, Joe Davis, Charles Jackson and the Tuesday Afternoon FBC Men's Bible Study.
