Robert J. Griffin Sr. (Bob), age 95 went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 2, 2025. Those missing him and celebrating his wonderful life are his wife of 71 years Joyce Griffin, their children Robert (Terri) Griffin Jr, Debra Ann (David) Grube, his grandchildren Colten (Kara) Griffin, Nathan Grube, Brent (Katy) Grube, Taylor Grube and five great grandchildren; Cooper Griffin, Micah Grube, Luca Grube, Eleanor Grube and Griffin Grube who he loved and cherished being Grandpa to. He is preceded in death by his youngest son Danny Griffin.
Bob was born in Atmore, AL. in 1930 and graduated from Escambia High school. After high school he attended Texas Tech University and Auburn University. In 1950 he enlisted in the Navy during the Korean War serving two years in Hawaii and two years as a Flight Orderly in the VR2 program at Alameda NAS. After his military service he attended Massey Droughn Business School where he met the love of his life and married Joyce in 1955.
He attended electronics training school in Mobile, AL and In 1965 moved to Valparaiso, Fl where he worked at Eglin Air Force Base for 30 years as an electronics technician and retired in 1995.
He was a member of the Twin Cities Elks Lodge #2747 where he served as a Trustee and was a member of the Hoop Shoot and Soccer committees. Bob was known for his work as a "handyman" and superb cooking ability at fundraisers and committee events. He also dedicated his time through the years as a youth coach and loved volunteering in his community. One of his favorite things to do was frying mullet with the "Boggy Boys" at the Mullet Festival for many years.
Bob was also a member of the Masons, American Legion Post 296, and First Baptist Church on Bayshore in
Niceville, FLHis hobbies included camping, cooking, hunting, fishing and spending time woodworking in his shop making crosses and bird houses for his friends.
A celebration service of Bob's life will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at First Baptist Church on Bayshore at 11:00am. The visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 am-10:45am.
