Jerry Blackmon Obituary

Mr. Blackmon was born on December 25, 1940 in Johnston County to the late Cardovia Lee and Ellie Coats Blackmon. He was preceded in death by his five sisters; Lenore Jones, Matie Barbour, Rosie Love, Violet Peele and Shelby Jean Blackmon; and son, Neal Lee Blackmon.
Mr. Blackmon was a heavy equipment operator for most of his life. He had his own business for several years. He and his wife attended Swann Station Baptist Church in Sanford, NC.
Surviving include his wife of 63 years, Marie West Blackmon; children, Susan B. Benson, Mark Blackmon, (Wendy) and Lee Blackmon (Renee) and seven grandchildren; Courtney Thomas, Bradley Benson (Skylar), Dylan Blackmon (Maura), Hunter Blackmon, Dawson Blackmon, Maverick Blackmon and Kaylee Blackmon; Two great-grandchildren, Elliott Thomas and Grayson Benson; sister, Mary B. Johnson; brother, Cardovia (Dovie) Blackmon (Vickie); and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 11:00 am at West & Dunn Funeral Home of Benson, Visitation to follow immediately after.
In lieu of flowers; memorials may be made to Swann Station Baptist Church at 7592 N.C. 87, Sanford, North Carolina, 27332 or Spout Springs Emergency Services, 4400 Buffalo Lake Road, Cameron, North Carolina, 28326.
The family welcomes friends at the home of Lee and Renee at 503 S. McLamb Street, Benson, NC 27504.
