Craig was born in Bainbridge, Georgia on May 15, 1951, a son of the late Bettye (Houzell) Blackmon. As a child he relocated to New Jersey and graduated from East Orange High School. He attended Essex College and spent his working career with the East Orange Police Department, East Orange, New Jersey retiring after 31 years of service and promotions to homicide detective. Following his retirement Craig relocated to Tobyhanna and enjoyed traveling with his family.
Preceding him in death in addition to his mother, was a brother, Johnnie Blackmon.
Surviving is his wife, JoAnn (Whiting) Blackmon, children, Dena Goodwin, Craig Blackmon, Ryan Blackmon, Dominique Blackmon and Tamika Buchanan. Grandson Atlas Blackmon (WHO LOVED HIS POP POP). Surviving siblings Linda Schockley, Anthony Blackmon, Kathi McWhorter, Sharon Blackmon-Murdock, Traci Blackmon, Laverne Blackmon, Renee Blackmon and Michael Blackmon and a host of extended family members.
As per Craig's wishes, no services are planned at this time.
