Jerry Dell Brown entered his heavenly home on November 7, 2025. He was born on November 27, 1939, in Cleburne, Texas, to Albert Luther Brown and Mell Marie Swinney Brown.
He grew up and attended school in Cleburne, where he met the love of his life, Bamma Plemons. The two were married on June 22, 1962, and shared more than six decades of cherished memories.
Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1960-1963. He was stationed in both Korea and Vietnam, where he served as an Airborne Ranger in the 82nd Airborne Division and the 75th Rangers. During his distinguished military career, he earned the honorable distinctions of Master Jumper, Master Markman, and received a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in combat.
Following his military service, Jerry returned to Cleburne, where he worked for several years as a boilermaker for the Santa Fe Railroad, and later for the U.S. Postal Service, where he dedicated over 30 years before retiring. He especially enjoyed his role as a window clerk, proudly serving the Cleburne community.
Jerry was also a member of the Cleburne Elks Lodge #811, American Legion Post #240 Turnbow-Higgs, and the VFW. He enjoyed golf, fishing, gardening, tinkering in his shop, and—most importantly—spending time with his beloved family.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Bamma Plemons Brown of Stephenville TX; Daughter Donna Brown Strohmeyer and husband Cary of Stephenville, TX; Granddaughter Gracie Strohmeyer of Stephenville, TX; Granddaughter Bamma Strohmeyer Weber, husband Blake and great-grandchildren Luke and Annie Weber of Oak Point , TX; Sister Jacqueline Brown Robinson of Cleburne, TX and Nephew Ronald Joe Robinson and wife Karen of Cleburne, TX.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to CCS Hospice and to Laurel Glen Assisted Living for their exceptional love, care, and support.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 10th, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at Stephenville Funeral Home, 120 W. South Loop, Stephenville, Texas. A private family service will be held at the Upper Greens Creek Cemetery at a later date.
