Jerry Steven Burns

Jerry Steven Burns, 74, of McAlester, formerly of Ti Valley, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2025 in McAlester. Funeral services are set for Tuesday, December 9, at 2:00 p.m. at the Ti Valley Baptist Church, with Willie Virden officiating. Burial will be at Ti Valley Cemetery. Pallbearers are Andrew Burns, Gary Burns, Ty Burns, Monte Palmer, John Sweetin and Donald Gardner. Honorary pallbearers are James Palmer, Eugene Escoe, Glen Davidson, Tom Burns and Calvin Sweetin.

Jerry Burns was born on September 9, 1951 in Lincoln, Nebraska to James Raymond and Stella Jean (Pugh) Burns. His family moved to the Ti Valley area when he was young and he has lived there virtually all his life. After high school, Jerry started working in the oil and gas fields. He worked his way up to being a "driller", then, the last few years, he worked as an independent consultant.

Jerry is survived by his children, Debra Dunlap, Monica Haskins, Gary Burns, and Blue Burns; 10 grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Jason and Sharon Burns; a sister and brother-in-law, Nellie and James Palmer; and several nieces and nephews; and special family Linda and Eugene Escoe. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jon Burns.
