Jerry Lee Byrd, age 77, of Beeler, KS, passed away on September 4, 2025, at HaysMed in Hays, KS. Jerry was born on June 13, 1948 in Emporia, KS. He was the son of George Robert (Bob) Byrd and Dorothy Mae Scharff. He met the love of his life, Linda Jane Selves and they were united in marriage in Hutchinson, KS on June 3, 1968.

Jerry was a lifelong rancher, cattle buyer and land trader. He had a strong work ethic. He enjoyed life, believed in God and loved his family. Everything he did was to provide for his family. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Jerry was happiest when he was around family and friends. He also loved to play pitch, watch sports and ride horses.

He is survived by his wife, Linda J. (Selves) Byrd; his children Traci Scott and husband Roger of Burdett, KS, Kristi Williams and husband Chad of Victoria, KS and John Byrd and wife Tiffany of Beeler, KS; his grandchildren Tyler Ralls, Payton Rice and his wife Kristen, Jake Byrd, Kade Scott, Kylee Scott, Shelby Scott, and Hazen Byrd.

Memorial services will be on Friday September 12, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Ness City, KS. Friends may sign the book at Fitzgerald Funeral Home on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Arrowhead West, Inc. 1100 E Wyatt Earp Blvd, Dodge City, KS 67801 or to Children's Mercy Hospital, Adele Hall Campus, 2401 Gillham Rd, Kansas City, MO 64108.

Memories and words of support may be left for the family by writing in the guestbook.
