Jerry Glen Calvin
March 07, 1952 - October 05, 2023
After a long battle with pancreatic cancer, Jerry went home to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and moved to the Hudson Valley in 1960. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1970 and then graduated from SUNY Geneseo, where he met his first wife Betsy. With Betsy, Jerry had two sons, Glen and Neal Calvin.
Jerry worked at Vassar College for 39 years with many accomplishments, serving as the biology technician specializing in advanced microscopy and teaching hundreds of students. Jerry was the Shop Stewart (CWA) at Vassar College and Stewart and Business Agent of CWA Local #120. Living in Pleasant Valley, Jerry was an active member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church as a choir member and treasurer.
Jerry later remarried Christine (MacMillan) Hastings on August 11, 2007 in Beekman, New York. The Lord works in mysterious ways when they met on Match.com and began a new life together. He was blessed with four additional sons and an incredible family network.
Jerry loved canoeing and his time in the Adirondack mountains. He also loved to travel with Christine. They drove across the country three times seeing the wonders of our beautiful country. Life was an adventure every day!
Jerry had a servant's heart with the kindest, most caring, ready to roll up his sleeves spirit to help anyone in need. One example of this is the hundreds of gallons of blood and plasma he donated during his lifetime.
Jerry is survived by his wife Christine, sons Glen Daniel (Lori) and Neal Donald; stepsons Scott Hastings (Kimberly), Tim Hastings, Kevin Hastings (Jessica), and Jonathan; eight grandchildren Theodore Delo, Quinn Domenica; Michael, Jonah, Kaylin, Julie, Natalie and Hudson; siblings Duane Atlee, Cheryl Ann (Jim), and Bruce Conway (David).
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to either the Peniel Bible Conference at PO Box 369, Lake Luzerne, NY 12846 or the Calvary Chapel, 36 Firemens Way, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
There will be a memorial service held on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at 3:00pm at the Calvary Chapel of Hudson Valley, 36 Firemens Way, Poughkeepsie, New York, 12603
~We love you all

Jerry was our loving cousin and many fond memories of our visits to their family home in New York and when his family would come home to Ellsworth Ohio to visit us and especially his Grandma, Destiny. We especially loved it when he volunteered to bring our sister Sue from Cincinnati to Ellsworth for our Uncle Leo's funeral. God bless you for all you did to make the world a better place. Love, Sandy, Dave and Dale

Jerry was a very giving person with a deep love for his family. He was very very good at his job, and was someone you could count on. Rest in peace Jerry.

We joined the United Methodist Church in Pleasant Valley when we moved here in 1989 and I was blessed to be in the choir with Jerry. He was kind, humble and fun loving with a deep faith in God. He will be missed by so many that knew and loved that wonderful smile.
