Joseph P Kowalski of the Town of Poughkeepsie passed away on March 27th at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie NY.
Joe was born on April 18th, 1960, he was the son of the late Joseph P. and the late Jacquelyn C. Bunn Kowalski.
Joe was a graduate of Arlington High School.
Joe worked as a correction officer for New York State at Downstate Correctional Facility from August 15, 1983, to December 23, 2016. Joe was a member of the NYS Emergency Response Team. In the after math of 9/11, he and other CERT members helped to guard our NYS Reservoirs.
Joe was a Life member of the Pirate Canoe Club in Poughkeepsie NY and a member of the Polish American Club.
Joe loved taking long rides and fishing, betting on the ponies and having cocktails at the Arlington Bar & Grill.
Joe was always there for his friends and family when in need.
Joe is survived by his girlfriend Carol Ring of Poughkeepsie NY, his stepmother Louise Kowalski of Sun City FL, his aunt Dottie Bunn of Poughkeepsie, his cousins David and John Bunn and Peter Streck. His niece Reagan Kowalski Florida and nephew Colton Kowalski of Colorado.
Joe was predeceased by his parents, his brother Kevin and his uncle Earle Rusty Bunn.
Calling Hours will be held Friday April 4, 2025, from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday April 5, 2025, at 10am in the Funeral Home and Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery Poughkeepsie.
