Jerry Colvin Champion, 73, of Talladega, AL, was born on November 19, 1951, and entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. A funeral ceremony will be held in his honor at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 01, 2025, at Eastaboga Baptist Church with David McFather officiating. His family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow directly after the ceremony at Eastaboga Baptist Cemetery.
Mr. Champion was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega. He was a superintendent for Collier and Lloyd Construction for many years before his retirement. Jerry enjoyed his life after retirement to the fullest. He found great pleasure in being able to spend his days however he wanted. He especially loved raising chickens, fishing, and watching old western TV shows and movies, and he could always be found sipping coffee on his back porch at any point during the day. Mr. Champion's family was his pride and joy. He adored spending time with them especially during the holidays which he loved. Jerry was a very devoted father, husband, and "Paw-Paw" who will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Colvin and Conola Champion, sister, Jesse Sue Patterson, and brother, Byron Champion.
Mr. Champion is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Minda Champion; daughters, Lisa Singleton (Dale) and Angela Whisenhunt (Matt); sisters, Marie Payne (ReRe) and Judy Rouse; grandchildren, Megan Honea, Wes Singleton, Kasy Harkenrider, Kelci Griffin, and Courtney Ray, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Wes Singleton, Payton Harkenrider, David Griffin, Wayne Cheatwood, Matt Whisenhunt, Kevin Horton, Bo Murner, and Rocky Harper will serve as pallbearers.
