Mr. Jerry G. Coram, Sr., age 87, of Mount Airy passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, at his home. He was born in Forsyth County, NC, on November 26, 1937, the son of the late Ott and Ruth Speas Coram. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in civil engineering. Mr. Coram began his work life as an engineer with Tennessee Valley Authority and moved back to the Carolinas in 1963 to begin his construction career. He founded J. G. Coram Construction, Inc. in 1978. He was a friend and encourager to others and was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Surviving is his wife Barbara Canady Coram; children, Jerry Coram Jr. and his wife, Kristi, and Wendy Spainhour and her husband, Dean; grandchildren, J.B. Coram, and his wife Beth, Julius Coram, Anna Kay Coram, Mary Madison Spainhour and Phillip Dean Spainhour III; great granddaughter, Layla Coram; step grandchildren, Corbyn Clawson and his wife Madison, Hunter Clawson and his wife, Kayden, Cody Clawson, and Nate Clawson; his sister, Judy Hamilton and her husband, Fred. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Burke. A reception to celebrate Jerry’s life will be held Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at Cross Creek Country Club from 5:30 until 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church 1909 North Main St., Mount Airy, NC 27030, or to the Mount Airy Rescue Squad, 425 Frederick Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Moody Funeral Service of Mount Airy is serving the Coram family.
